Terms and conditions

Two sets of terms sit on this page: the rules for using this website, and the basis on which we quote for and carry out work at your home.

About these terms

Who we are and what this page covers

This website is run by Robin Skylights Nottingham ("Robin Skylights", "we", "us"), which installs and replaces skylights and rooflights in Nottingham and the surrounding area. Customers are visited at home, so there is no shop or office to attend and no postal address published. Any further business details a contract needs are available on request by email to info@robinskylightsnottingham.co.uk.

Part one covers the website. Part two covers our work. By using the site you accept part one. Part two applies only if you ask us to quote for, and then agree to, a job.

Part one

Using this website

You may read, print and share pages of this site for your own, non-commercial use. Please do not copy the content, photographs or design for use on another site or in marketing without asking us first. Please also do not use the site in a way that damages it or stops others using it, and do not send us anything unlawful through the enquiry form.

Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal data, and our cookie policy explains the cookies involved.

Part one

Information on the site is general guidance

The articles and service pages describe how rooflights and skylights are usually planned, fitted and regulated in England. We take care over them, but they are general guidance. They are not a survey of your roof, not legal or planning advice, and not a quote. Rules change, and what applies to your home depends on its roof, its location and its status, such as a listed building or an Article 4 area.

Product data, such as sizes and thermal performance, comes from manufacturers and may change. Check the details on your written quote before you rely on them.

Part one

Links to other sites

Where we link to another site, such as the Planning Portal, it is to help you. We do not control other sites and are not responsible for their content or for how they use your data. The enquiry form, the map and WhatsApp are provided by other companies; see the cookie policy for details.

Part one

Limits on our liability for the website

We provide the site as it is and cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. Within the law, we are not liable for loss that comes from relying on general information on the site, or from a fault or interruption in the site itself.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit. That includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and your statutory rights as a consumer.

Part two

How a job begins: survey and written quote

We survey the roof and the room before we price anything, and the survey is free. After the survey we send a fixed written quote. The price in it does not change on the day, unless you ask us to change the work and we agree the change with you in writing first.

The written quote, with the terms stated in it, governs each job. It sets out the products, the work, the price and how payment is made. If anything on this website differs from your written quote, the quote applies. A job begins when you accept the quote.

Part two

Building Regulations and the guarantee

Work to cut a new rooflight into a roof, or to replace an existing one, is normally controlled work under the Building Regulations. If notification is required, we make it, to the local authority or a registered building control approver, and the installation follows current Building Regulations. Planning permission is a separate matter, and most rooflights on houses do not need it, but we will tell you if your property needs a closer look.

Our workmanship is covered by a 10-year guarantee in writing. Its terms are on the guarantee page and in your paperwork.

Part two

Your right to cancel

Because we make the contract at your home, or at a distance by email or WhatsApp, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you the right to cancel within 14 days. The 14 days start on the day the contract is made. You do not need to give a reason.

To cancel, tell us clearly in writing, for example by email. You can use any wording, and we will confirm that we have received your notice.

If you ask us to start work before the 14 days have ended, you must tell us so. If you then cancel, you pay a reasonable amount for what we have already done up to the point you told us you were cancelling, in proportion to the whole contract. We will explain this before you agree to early work.

Part two

Your statutory rights

Nothing in these terms or in your quote affects your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill, and goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If something falls short, you are entitled to a remedy. If you have a concern, our complaints procedure explains what to do.

General

Law, changes and contact

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you may also have the right to bring a claim in your local courts.

We may update these terms. The version on this page is the current one, and a change does not alter a quote you have already accepted. This page was last updated in October 2026. For questions, email us, call 0115 775 0605 or use WhatsApp, 07880 284133.

Let's see your roof.
