Accessibility statement

Robin Skylights Nottingham ("Robin Skylights", "we") aims for this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. These are the widely used international guidelines for making web content usable by more people, including those who use screen readers, keyboards, voice control or magnification, and those with low vision, colour blindness, cognitive differences or motor difficulties.

This statement covers robinskylightsnottingham.co.uk. It does not cover other sites we link to.

• Colour contrast. We checked the contrast between text and its background across the site, in the light and the dark areas of each page, and adjusted colours where text fell below the AA ratio.
• Keyboard use. You can move through links, menus and forms with the keyboard alone. The focus position is visible as you go, and the menu can be opened and closed without a mouse.
• Text alternatives. Photographs that carry meaning have descriptive alt text. Images that are purely decorative are marked so a screen reader skips them.
• Headings and structure. Each page has one main heading and a logical order of subheadings, so you can navigate by heading. Links say where they go, rather than "click here".
• Reduced motion. Where the site uses movement, it respects the reduced motion setting on your device and holds still if you have asked for that.
• Forms. Fields we control are labelled, and error messages say what needs to change.
• Resizing. Text can be enlarged in the browser, and the layout adapts to phone, tablet and desktop widths without hiding content.

Some parts of the site are provided by other companies, and we cannot change how they are built.

• The enquiry form. It is run by our customer relationship management provider and shown inside a frame. It may not meet every WCAG criterion, for example in the way it announces errors or handles focus inside the frame.
• The map. The map on the contact page uses OpenStreetMap tiles. Maps are visual by nature, and the interactive controls may be hard to use with a keyboard or screen reader. The text on the page gives the same information about where we work.

If you cannot use part of the site, or you need information in a different form, such as larger text or a plain-text version of a page, contact us by email or WhatsApp using the details above. Please say which page you were on, what went wrong and what device or assistive tool you use, if you are happy to share it. That helps us find and fix the cause.

We will look into each report and let you know what we find. Because we are a small business with no public premises, we deal with all contact by email and WhatsApp, and visit customers at home when work is agreed.
